God spoke, and God said: “Let there be light” and behold: there was!
God created with His word, the letter Beit the first cause.
The light of God is the light of the eye,
That allowed Adam to see the world from end to end.
The light of God made David sing “Why?”
The light the three sinful generations wanted to bend.

The light of God is the fire in the bush, that made of Moshe our Teacher,
It is the light that shines from the mouth of every truthful Preacher.
Oh, how abundant is Your goodness,
You prepared for those who obey You!
Oh, would we all achieve the pureness,
That would let our hearts be soft and warm and true!
The light of God is stored away: reserved for only the righteous
The night of God is the gloom of day, that cannot touch the pious.

God spoke, and God said: “Let there be light”, and behold: there was!
