Lyrics
6. The Parting of Ya’akov and Lavan
© Issachar Tal van Kekem
Many a man has complained, how his in-laws have constrained
How the brother envied him, how the sister desired him
How the father belittled and underrated
And how all his good intentions were frustrated
Ya’akov worked seven years to be allowed to marry Rachel
Then was cheated by her father, his uncle Lavan:
When he woke up in their wedding bed
It was her sister Lea instead…
Forced to work another seven years
Forced to suffer all her tears
And then six more years to get his wages,
And then he was forced to flee.
All you need, is family…
All for… his love of Rachel!
Ya’akov had only one daughter,
But he had twelve sons
He loved the girl who drew the water
Multitude among The Other Ones…
All for… his love of Rachel!
Avraham had Sarah
The mother of an era
Izak had Rivkah
We must all forgive hah
Jacob-Ya’akov had Lea and Rachel
The true Mothers of Israel!
All for… his love of Rachel!
