7. Opinion on Clothing

Clothes keep our bodies warm
Clothes help us to becharm
Clothes hide our scars and our moles
But clothes are mainly worn to protect our souls
They shield us from The Eyes of The Devil
From seduction, deduction, and total destruction

The body is the first layer: the Neshamah it contains
Though the Neshamah the body reigns.
Over the body we wear the Small Tallit with the fringes,
That remind us of the rules we must observe
Of the God we are to serve
Prevent unworthy swerve
The third layer is our presentation to our fellow:
When our Self is shallow,
It functions as our bellow…

The fourth layer is the one with the greatest impact
It shows with whom we walk: who we ARE and how we ACT!
It is not the Big Tallit that covers the shoulders
That stand and push like boulders
It is not the kippah that proudly perches on our skull
To signal to all, that we are not a cull
And also,
It is not the modesty in which we dress
Our neighbor to impress
Our ego to caress
It is what we DO, on the OUTside, that best displays
Who we TRULY are in the depths of our maze
