When Chava and Adam ate of the Forbidden Fruit
From the Tree of Knowledge of Evil and Good
They gave power to the Evil Side
Thereby caused themselves, and us, to slide…

Countless spirits of varied species
Spread to dress themselves, to possess the bodies
That were still being created
If God had waited,
The world would struggle to withstand
Even for the shortest moment

Blessed are you, our Father and our Lord!
In ecstatic gratitude our hearts have soared
And so, for you, we bring this holy chord
In perfect harmony!

The Holy One remedied just on time:
He right away… hallowed the day
And thereby ended all acts of creation
The evil spirits then remained souls without bodies
Had God thus not done, the demons would now walk within Creation
And defile our Holy Nation
Distract us from our work
Cloud our eyes with their drizzly murk

On this night the side of goodness was constructed:
Holy bodies and holy spirits
Keep your conjugal interval from the end of the shabbat
To the beginning of the shabbat
