Lyrics
12. Oh, That He Would Kiss Me!

Anger, that is fire, issues from the nose:
You can hear it move before it bursts!
Passion issues from the mouth,
When two mouths by kissing merge, it hurts!
Radiant faces, blissful cleaving, total joy
For your caresses are fine, inspired by wine
The wine that delights, not the wine that the eyes ignites
The wine, the good wine, that warms from within, and arouses love
As below, so above:
The good wine we offer and the smoke ascends,
God’s love is rekindled, and the Shechinah descends.
Without wine, the taste and the scents,
No human would ever have friends.
As below, so above:
Husband and wife, human and God, exchanging love
The upper world depends upon the lower
The lower world depends upon the upper
Either world would flourish much slower
Either world is the other one’s crupper
Oh, that he would kiss me!
Oh, Lord, make that bliss be!
Kisses from his mouth
My blood racing north and south
An end to the choking drougth
Oh, Lord, make that bliss be!
Make that he will kiss me!
