Since the Flood, mankind, in numbers, had been expanding,
But man had regressed in understanding.
They banded together and drew a conceited plan:
“We will dethrone the one who sent the waters: yes, we can!
We will build the highest tower and we will climb into Heaven
Above is too remote, and passively we will not float, again…
No, ascend the walls we will, and all His angels we will kill
We will overcome His might, even through the most fearsome fight
He will surrender, our heavenly offender, and submit
And waters will pour down no more
To drown us, as they did before…

Look, they were one people, united in one single tongue
They may well succeed in their undertaking, as united they are strong
So, let us twist their tongues, to prevent their coordination
To hinder their cooperation.
With confusion we will batter them
With frustration we will scatter them

Before, they spoke the Holy Language,
And through their enunciation they achieved their intention
Because it is the language of the Angels up high and up higher
That empowers one’s desire
