Happy Are The Righteous

Wasn’t it Rabbi El’azar who said this? Indeed, it was Rabbi El’azar who said this!
“Happy are the Righteous, who learn the ways of the Holy One,
for it is they, who will relish in them,
and it is not they, who will fear the Day of Judgment:
for they will happily render account to the Holy One Blessed be He!”

By his own hand every human seals his fate
Every man knows his own deeds, and realizes their value.
But when man’s days have been completed:
When his body is broken and his soul is disconnecting,
Three holy messengers will stand over him,
And enumerate his days, his charities as well as his sins,
He will openly and loudly admit and confess, and accept both honour and blame.
He will account for all his deeds and sign and seal his account, never to retract.
Man is eternally responsible for the consequences of every single act!

Then, upon departing this world, man will face his father Adam and his mother Chava.
He will reprove Adam and Chava, saying: “It is you who inflicted death upon us!”
But Adam and Chava will then respond by saying:
“As for us… we possess only a single sin, whereas every one of you possesses a multitude!”

Heaven is a quiet palace: very few souls inhabit its halls.
Is not known to all of us, that all men sin, but very few repent?
Most of us will spend twelve months in hell, and then be burned and crushed,
Only to become dust on the Path of the Righteous.
Yes, only a few souls do indeed return to face the Countenance of the Holy One!
Only a few souls have ever heard the Angelic Choir welcome them…
Only the perfectly righteous,
Only the happy few,
Will study with Moshe our Teacher, and dance with Miriam, and bask in the light of the Motherly Love of the Shechinah…
