How Can People Not Care to Know?

Rabbi Shim’on, Rabbi El’azar, Rabbi Abba, Rabbi Yehudah
Those four famous teachers were walking on the way…
When Rabbi Shim’on said:
“I understand why there are men who refuse to pray,
but when we offer to teach them Torah, how can they say: Nay!”?!
The other three responded: “How can people NOT care to know?!
Yeshayahu”, so it is written, once spoke and said:
My soul desires You in the night,
The spirit within me seeks You at dawn!
When I climb my bed, I pray,
And I dream only of my ascension.
When I awake, again I pray, before I even yawn.
When the body sleeps, the soul ascends
But is met by dazzling demons of defilement.
If the soul is pure, she will continue her ascent, to see the face of the King.
If the soul is not, the demons will keep her back
Causing her to dream confusing flack,
And keeping her drifting until her body awakens, and she falls back…
The soul of the Righteous every night ascends,
Blissfully passes among the defiling demons,
Climbing the rungs, and soaring ever higher
Then appears before the Ancient of Days,
Bathing in the light of His Countenance,
The loveliness of the King,
Absorbing the good of His Palace
There and there sharing in the world to come!
Yearning constantly for our Creator, the Holy Blessed One,
The eager and hungry ones, devour Torah during the day,
And receive His peace of mind every night.
They are good and do good,
They give and get only good, all the days of their lives…
They are called “Tzaddikim” – ues: “Holy Ones”
For their never-faltering desire to mimic the Holy One!
