Oh My Dove

Four famous teachers sat down in a field:
Rabbi Shim’on, Rabbi Abba, Rabbi El’azar, Rabbi Yehudah,
To discuss to discover … all that is concealed
They proffered ideas, and excitedly scrubbed and peeled,
And weighed and measured their yield:
Revelling in each detail they revealed…
Rabbi Shim’on suggested:
Let us see what is written!
There was a quarrel between the shepherds of Abram
And those of his nephew Lot,
For the latter wished to join their master in his idolatrous ways,
As he turned from the East: from the Primordial One.
Lot had declared, he desired to hearken to Abram nor to HIS god.
Abram heard of the abomination and banned Lot from his camp
For he who mingles with sinners, will surely become one of them!
Abram remained in the land of Kna’an, he clung to his Lord
While Lot moved to the city of Sodom
To join the wicked sinners who sold themselves short…
They had abandoned faith (even moved the Seventh to the Eight!)
Slammed the door from the Heavenly Court
And then, also, there was Yonah,
Who fled to Tarshish from oppression by the King,
Even though the King had warned, that He fills both Earth AND Heaven!
Oh my dove, in the clefts of the Rock
That TOWERS … over the world! (Jerusalem…)
Israel, in the covert of the cliff,
That TOWERS … over the world! (Jerusalem… Jerusalem…)
Shechinah … hidden from all view
In the Holy of Holies … upon the Mount
That TOWERS … over the world! (Jerusalem… Jerusalem… Jerusalem…)
