Yud Hey Vav Hey is the Name of the Lord of Israèl
Yud Hey Vav Hey includes Tif’èrret, the Vav
That connotes supreme Beauty, Glory, and Light
Yud Hey Vav Hey entails all supernal might
Tif’èrret is the central Sefiràh
The divine Emanation fully flows through her
And all that was concealed,
through her is revealed
Rabbi Yosèy was touched by Tif’`erret
And led into a cave.
Deep in its recesses, he discovered a scroll
Wedged into a cleft of the rock.
Excitedly he opened the scroll:
Seventy-two colourful engravings of letters.
Rabbi Yosèy realized he had been chosen,
for those could only be the letters
Transmitted by the angel Razièl to mankind’s father Adàm
Seventy-two species of wisdom
The Divine Name as described in three verses on the splitting of the Red Sea.
Each verse comprised of seventy-two letters.
Seventy-two triads of letters:
The first letter of the first verse – the last letter of the second verse – the first letter of the third verse;
The second letter of the first verse, the second-last letter of the second verse, the second letter of the third verse, and so on.
The Scroll of Razièl contained all the wisdom
Of both the angels and the demons:
Of all that will occur in the world,
Until a cloud will darken all from the West…
Rabbi Yosèy called upon rabbi Yehudàh and together they sat down
To study the scroll, but as soon as they discussed the very first letter
A whirling flame of fire burst forth and consumed all the sheets!
Rabbi Yosèy wept and in tears he cried out:
“We must be unworthy of those secrets!”
