Saràh Saw The Son

Saràh looked upon the son of Hagàr of Egypt
The son Hagar had born to Avrahàm.
His name was Yishmaèl, but he worshipped idols!
Saràh looked upon him with contempt,
Because he was of the second wife.
So when she saw him reveling in idolatry
That was all she needed to uproot his life
“Cast out! Cast out! Cast out that maidservant and her child,
For that evil boy will not inherit with our son Yitschàk!”
To Avrahàm it seemed Saràh was just jealous
But God commanded him to hearken to her voice:
In His plan there was no room for a war between those boys.
The Blessed Holy One sought to separate holy from unholy,
For that was why He created the world:
He willed Israèl to become His Nation of Holiness
Even before He made the Light.
All of Israèl… were to serve as His priests
As mankind’s teacher, preacher, and guide
Saràh saw Yishmaèl for what he truly was:
Devoid of her image, and thus devoid of Shechinàh.
For as the Lord clung to Avrahàm
So the Shechinàh… clung to Saràh
